Natural Remedies For Common Cold in Chilren

It's a good thing to be exposed to viruses and bacteria. It makes the immune system stronger. Certain foods, nutritional supplements, herbs, and other remedies may be very beneficial during times of acute illness because they help your body heal itself naturally. This post offers you tips for building a strong immune system as well as natural home remedies to treat ear infections, coughs, fevers, colds, and flu.

Remedies For Cold:

Lemon:
Lemon is the most popular among the many home remedies for common cold. It is beneficial in all types of cold with fever. Vitamin C-rich lemon juice increases body resistance, decreases toxicity and reduces the duration of the illness.

Basil:
Basil leaves and basil seeds possess antioxidant, antiviral, anti cancer and anti microbial properties. Two to three leaves of basil or half a teaspoon of basil seeds can be mixed with a spoon of honey and it can be taken to prevent the infection. Herbal tea can be prepared from peppermint and basil leaves. Take the tea when it is hot to get rid of the problem.

Gargling:
A post-nasal drip not only annoys, but also causes coughing and sore throats, too. Instead of reaching for medicated cough drops, though, simply mix ¼ teaspoon salt into a cup of very warm water for your child to gargle with. Though not a cure, it's sure to relieve the pain for a while and can be repeated as often as needed.

Garlic:
Garlic has been found to be effective against common cold. Traditionally, it has been used for fighting cough and cold. You can take garlic in hot soups. Garlic possesses antiseptic properties too. Its juice can be mixed with onion juice and it can be taken in warm water to prevent the infection.

Chicken Soup:
Grandma was right when she prescribed a cup of chicken soup for a cold-and the good news is, whether it's homemade or store bought makes no difference. The steam helps loosen congestion and the broth hydrates.
